The Sembcorp Cool House

The Cool House is an indoor orchid collection of the five vegetation – Malesia, Continental Southeast Asia and South Asia, Australasia, Afrotropics and Neotropics. The 260 square meters of the house are designed to stimulate the high elevation montane forest with an altitude of  1000 to 2000 meters. Visitors will be able to experience and look at rare orchids found in this altitude such as Cymbidiums (also known as Boat Orchids), Dendrochilums (also known as Chain Orchids), Cyrtochilums and Phragmipedium (also known as Slipper Orchids).

This collection of plants represents those that grow in a mid-elevation Neotropical forest environment at 650m to 1,000m elevation. The house is 620 square meters in area and is home to various bromeliad genera such as Ananas, Guzmania, Neoregelia, Tillandsia, Pitcairnia, Aechmea, Vriesia, Cryptanthus, etc, including both species and cultivars.
