Plan your visit to Night Safari Singapore

Night Safari, the world’s first nocturnal wildlife park, is best known for tram safaris and night encounters. Expect humid evenings and crowds. Visits take 3–4 hours, but timing matters, so arrive early to avoid queues and packed shows.

Essential information at a glance

  • Hours: Daily 7:15pm to 12am | Last entry: 11:15pm
  • Getting in: From SGD 58 for standard entry. Combo tickets are available with Mandai parks. Booking 2 to 5 days ahead is recommended on weekends and during June, July, and December.
  • How long to allow: 3 to 4 hours for most visitors. Add 1 hour if you plan to do all trails and shows.
  • When to go: Weekdays between 7:15pm and 8pm are noticeably calmer than 8:30pm to 10pm when the show crowds peak.
  • What most people miss: Walking trails like Fishing Cat Trail offer closer animal views than the tram.
  • Is a guide worth it? Not necessary. The tram commentary and signage are sufficient for most visitors.

🎟️ Night Safari tickets sell out 2 to 3 days in advance during June, July, and December. Lock in your slot early to avoid last-minute disappointment.

Where & when to go

Best way to explore Night Safari Singapore

Start at the entrance courtyard to catch the Twilight Performance (LED light show at 8pm and 9pm, with an extra show at 10pm on weekends — replaced the fire show from April 2025). Board the Safari Adventure Tram for your complimentary ride through the six geographic zones. Then explore the walking trails at your own pace. Plan for 2.5–3 hours in total. Use the free Mandai App for a wayfinding map and to set reminders for keeper talks and animal presentations.

Don't just ride the tram — go deeper after dark!

Most visitors cover Night Safari on the standard tram and miss the intimate keeper encounters, exclusive rhinoceros feeding, and reserved show seats that come with the Safari Adventure Tour. A private expert guide transforms 900 animals into unforgettable stories.

Safari Adventure Tram

~30 min · 6 geographic zones

A guided tram journey through moonlit habitats spanning the Himalayas to Southeast Asia. Spot tapirs, elephants, and lions roaming freely — the easiest way to cover the whole park.

📍 Departs near entrance

Clouded leopards & Asiatic lions

Most thrilling trail · Walk-through exhibits

Dense jungle boardwalks past clouded leopards and lions. Two walk-through exhibits let flying foxes and flying squirrels glide directly overhead — a rare open encounter.

📍 West segment

Sunda pangolin

Critically endangered · 5 residents

The world's most trafficked mammal. Seen up close on a revamped 280m trail. Night Safari was the first facility globally to breed Sunda pangolins in captivity, in 2011.

📍 Pangolin Trail, southeast

Creatures of the Night

7:30 · 8:30 · 9:30pm · +10:30pm weekends

A 20-minute live show where binturongs, spotted hyenas, and otters demonstrate natural behaviours. Book seats two hours ahead — fills up fast on weekends.

📍 Night Safari Amphitheatre

Indian rhinoceros feeding

S$12 add-on · Min. height 1.2m

Hand-feed one of Night Safari's one-horned giants from a safe platform. One of the park's most memorable up-close encounters — alongside Malayan tigers and Asian elephants on the same trail.

📍 East Lodge Trail

Tasmanian devils & marsupials

Australia & New Guinea · Conservation programme

Meet four Tasmanian devils, part of the international Save the Tasmanian Devil Programme — plus wallabies, sugar gliders, brush-tailed possums, and kiwis in an outback setting.

📍 Tasmanian Devil Trail, northeast

Chawang the Asian elephant

Singapore's largest resident · Free-roaming at dusk

Night Safari's beloved icon — rescued in Malaysia, now Singapore's largest wildlife park animal. Watch the herd at their most active as darkness falls across the open habitat.

Rules & practical tips

Practical tips

  • Book the 7:15pm slot. Animals are most active shortly after dusk. This slot also lets you catch the first Twilight Performance and avoid the evening peak crowd that builds from 8pm onwards.
  • Eat before or at the entry plaza. Bongo Burgers and Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant open from 6:30pm. Inside the trails, food options are limited and crowds at dining areas build quickly after 8pm.
  • Do the tram first, then the trails. The tram covers a lot of ground efficiently. Walking the trails afterward lets you linger at exhibits that caught your eye from the tram window.
  • Download the Mandai App before arriving. It includes an offline wayfinding map, keeper talk schedules, and tram timing — essential in a dark park with no phone signal in some zones.
  • Bring a light rain poncho. Singapore's tropical weather can bring sudden showers. The trails are partially exposed and ponchos are cheaper to carry in than to buy at the gift shop.
  • Allow 2.5–3 hours minimum. Rushing through Night Safari means missing keeper talks, the animal presentations, and quieter viewing spots. The tram alone is 30 minutes and queues can add 20 minutes at peak times.
