Bird Paradise - Animals and Zones

Located within Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Bird Paradise spans 17 hectares and is home to 3,500 birds from 400 species, of which 24 percent of the species are threatened. The park is designed to encourage discovery at every turn, welcoming you into an immersive habitat in eight large, walk-through aviaries that reflect different biomes of the world.

Hong Leon Foundation Crimson Wetlands Zone

  • This zone is a real treat if you’re a bird lover. Picture the coastal wetlands of Latin America with its native species of scarlet ibises, roseate spoonbills, Chestnut-fronted Macaw and American flamingos. Well, that’s exactly how Crimson Wetlands is designed to look like. Be prepared for a lot of squawking and screeching!
  • After all that exploring, you might be feeling a bit peckish. Head over to the Crimson Restaurant for a meal. It’s a peaceful spot with a great view of the wetland habitat. You can relax, grab a bite to eat, and watch the colorful macaws and ibises flying around.

Ocean Network Express Penguin Cove Zone

Here, in one of the world’s largest sub-Antarctic salt-water habitats, you’ll meet the best-loved flightless birds—the penguins! As you emerge onto the rocky beach, there they are: waddling penguins! Their tuxedo-like plumage makes them look ready for a fancy party. And guess what? This zone is home to the world’s second largest penguins. They stand tall, their beaks pointed skyward, as if they’re discussing the latest fish catch. 

Shaw Foundation Australian Outback Zone

This zone is designed to mimic the Australian outback with 30 bird species native to Australia. You will be surrounded by a landscape dotted with eucalyptus trees, cave paintings on rock walls, and giant termite mounds. You can hear the infectious cackle of laughing kookaburras, come face to face with the giant emus, and challenge yourself to spot the masters of disguise – the tawny frogmouths.

Nyungwe Forest Heart of Africa Zone

  • Picture yourself in a forest where the trees touch the sky. This is how the African forested valley zone looks like, a place where over 80 incredible bird species call home. You’ll be surrounded by suspended bridges, which is perfect to see ground birds such as guinea fowls and cranes. As you ascend, the bridges take you to a mid-canopy level. Here, insects buzz and fruit eaters flit by. Finally, you reach the observation tower. It’s like standing on a giant’s shoulder, looking out across the entire forest. Spread your arms wide—it’s a bird’s eye view!

Kuok Group Wings of Asia Zone

 Imagine strolling through Bali’s bamboo groves and gazing at serene rice terraces. This is what the Asia zone feels like. With over 30 species of avian treasures from the world’s largest continent, you get to see birds that have adapted to live in man-made habitats. Stately cranes, elegant storks, and flamboyant pheasants are the showstoppers of this paradise. You’ll also get to see the rarest spoonbill species — the black-faced spoonbill, and one of the world’s most endangered ducks — the Baer’s pochard. 

Songs of the Forest Zone

Here, delicate tunes fill the air as over 25 fascinating songbirds coexist. Picture boardwalks  alongside lush greenery—their wooden paths leading you through a symphony of melodies.

Listen closely: the straw-headed bulbul, the Bali mynah, and the Asian starlings take turns in this avian choir. Their songs create a living soundtrack. And you get to listen to the laughing thrushes—their calls are like woodland laughter. 

Lory Loft Mysterious Papua Zone

This zone unveils the mysterious interior of New Guinea and its unique bird treasures. Over 25 species of fascinating rainforest birds coexist peaceably here. The zone is styled after the coastal forests of lowland Papua, showcasing the stilt roots of various pandan species, as well as pavilions themed after the houses of the Korowai tribe. You can grab the rare opportunity to watch various elusive birds from behind a longhouse-style bird hide inspired by iconic Sepik houses.

Feeding times at Bird Paradise Singapore

  • Starlings Feeding at Nyungwe Forest Heart of Africa: Daily at 9:30am and 2:00pm.
  • Pelican Feeding at Kuok Group Wings of Asia: Daily at 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM.
  • Lories and Lorikeets Feeding at Lory Loft: Daily at 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
  • Cassowary Feeding at Mysterious Papua: Daily at 1:00 PM.

Each feeding session comes at an extra cost of SGD 8 per food portion. Only guests who are 1.2m and above in height can participate in the feeding sessions. Each feeding session generally lasts 15 minutes.
