An island nation known for its towering skyscrapers, sprawling theme parks, and a host of beautiful sites along its famous Marina Bay, Singapore is an exceptional tourist destination in South East Asia. Amongst its innumerable tourist attractions is the exotic Gardens by the Bay. Spanning 250-acres, this nature park consists of various intriguing attractions such as the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, and Children’s Garden. Adding to it this year, the Gardens by the Bay Orient Express is a special exhibition that features two lavish 158-year old train carriages.
The pop-up opened on 12 December 2020 and will remain open until 12 September 2021 (Sunday).
Once Upon A Time on the Orient Express is a special exhibition that is organized by the museography production company Visionairs in Art. It was a massive success in its previous 2014 run in Paris. It allows visitors to board 19th-century train carriages that served as symbols of prestige in bygone eras. The Oriental Express is a French national treasure that has been carefully preserved for over a century. After France, Singapore has been chosen as the ideal destination to exhibit this locomotive and the 300 or so precious items and documents contained inside.
Singapore Orient Express presents the original 200-tonne French locomotive in all its mystical charm. There is a special replica restaurant car where you can have a dining experience that befits the opulence of the Orient Express. The restaurant offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian brunch, lunch, tea, and dinner options. The thematic menu has been specially crafted by the famous French chef Yannick Alléno.
In honour of the wildly popular fictional French detective Hercule Poirot, the exhibition also features an Escape Room Experience that is replete with mystery and intrigue. You will find a range of historic items such as uniforms, classic Louis Vuitton luggage, porcelain pieces, and shields. The exhibition also involves special educational and historical presentations organized by the prestigious Arab World Institute. Don’t forget to stop by the Orient Express Shop and get souvenirs!
